HILL STRUCTURE
Experimental design for music hall or museum called the Light Box. This project explores form, landscape, and light. The Light Box was designed to sit within a slope, using layered surfaces and cut openings to control light distribution. The piece emphasizes how architecture can interact with terrain and atmosphere, with use of the sun and weather.
BUILDING DESIGN
I designed a multi-level apartment complex that has a minimal footprint but emphasizes community and amenities. This nature-focused building is composed of a green terrace or park on each floor including a rooftop dining area. The floor level is composed of retail or gallery space, while the back has a large park-like setting. Windows and patios illuminated the building with natural light, while the font facade provided privacy. This project explores a vertical living space through a sequence of drawings and a physical model. I started with the challenge of building a model before the sketch or ideation was complete. I was given a set of blocks, which I arranged in a certain way, then I built them into a supported modular structure using wooden sticks and glue. I then sketched it and designed a functional living space with a garden and dining balconies.
